Sustainability In a Time of Complexity

April 16 @ 7:00 pm 8:00 pm

Join us for a discussion with Dr. Lara Fowler, Penn State’s Chief Sustainability Officer, as she sketches out how she and her colleagues are approaching sustainability in an increasingly complex world. She’ll share updates on sustainability education, campus operations—including efforts in energy and decarbonization—and how it all connects to Penn State’s land-grant mission. She’ll also discuss ways individuals and communities can get involved, while providing plenty of time for questions and discussion.

Dr. Fowler’s background is in water resource management. After earning her law degree from the University of Washington, she worked on groundwater and flooding issues before joining Penn State in 2012 as a research fellow and adjunct professor. She became Chief Sustainability Officer in 2022. She also serves on the Chesapeake Bay Scientific and Technical Advisory Committee, chairs the Stockholm Junior Water Prize, and sits on the boards of the Chesapeake Bay Journal and COPA STEP (Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Science and Technology Policy Program).

This program is free and open to the public.
